i am having a little difficulty with the wording on the rules. it states

"3.5.4.3 Intake System Restrictor
In order to limit the power capability from the engine, a single circular
restrictor must be placed in the intake system between the throttle and
the engine and all engine airflow must pass through the restrictor. Any
device that has the ability to throttle the engine downstream of the
restrictor is prohibited.
The maximum restrictor diameters are:
Gasoline fueled cars - 20.0 mm (0.7874 inch)"

now does that mean i need the system to go as followes:intake tube(where outside air comes in)->restricter->air cleaner->throttle body->motor or is can run air cleaner on intake tube->restricter->throttlebody->motor?

we are a first year team and dont wanna be dq'd because we designed the system wrong. how have some of you guys ran yours.

Both work within the context of the FSAE rules as you have them listed... but most teams choose to do it the second way.

Actually, both of those ways are totally unacceptable. You cannot put throttle body behind the restrictor, it has to be upstream. Most teams go aircleaner, throttle body, restrictor, plenum, engine.

HA! Indeed. I was reading what he wrote incorrectly. Thinking backward stupid.

PSIa is completely correct. The throttle body always has to be upstream of restrictor. It's not like I wrote the damn rule change proposal or anything. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif HA!
