Hi. Before going into the topic, I want to say thank you for answering my last post which was kind of stupid question. Now, I have some problem with throttle body.

I know there is lots of posts dealing with throttle body problem, but i failed to find the exact information that i needed. Also,I already know that the best way for getting suitable throttle body is to make one by ourselves, but because of some limits that our team is facing, it seems impossible to manufacture it. So here is my question:

a) If I decide to pull out throttle body from automobiles or motorbikes, whcich factor should I have to consider? I mean, if I have enough information about throttle body of our car and the other car, how can I judge their throttle body would fit for us?

b) How can we attach air filters to the throttle body? Which metarials are you using for sealing the connection region of each parts in intake system?

I am looking foward to your help. thanks.

a.) Diameter, smaller will be quicker throttle response, larger flows more air, keep in mind the restrictor. If you pull one off of a car, make sure that it is mechanically operated, no throttle by wire.

b.) We just have a K&N that fits over the outside of ours, attached by a worm clamp. You don't necessarily need an air filter either, you can get smoother air without one.

You might want to do some flowbench or CFD testing with different sized throttle bodies. I'd test within the 50-30mm range.

I know some Kias or Hyundais may have a throttle body small enough for your needs, or maybe some local mopeds/scooters.

Make sure you can put a TPS on it if thats how you're going to tune.

For a filter, if we run one we usually use a piece of polyester mesh (aka pantyhose) zip-tied over the inlet.

Some of the judges will question no filter, but if you have some numbers to justify, you might be OK. We usually throw one on for design.

Also, we usually use an O-ring on our throttle body to intake, and rubber grommets for the intake to the cylinder head. Keep in mind you have to have a mechanical attachment for the rules.
