Honorific friends dedicated to FSAE all over the world,

On behalf of the FSAE Teams in China, FSAE China Union issues this unofficial open letter sincerely to invite all you guys to participate in this competition to be held in Shanghai International Circuit, China, 2012.

Some of you may have known well that TU München (TUM) encountered severe unfair treatments from Formula Student China (FSC) Committee in the competition last year, which was meant to help Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) defeat TUM in disguised form as a result. Frankly speaking, it’s also our fault to allow these indecent incidents, including changing interpretation of the rules and manipulating results, to exist in FSAE CHINA, having not made our utmost efforts to safeguard the integrity of rules. However, disregarding the unfairness occurring in the competition, I could assert that all the members in TU München have had a memorable and wonderful experience in China last year, and have felt grateful to the considerate reception by guys from Tongji University, impressed by the hospitality of all CHINA-FSAErs as well.

What we want to emphasize here in particular is that most FSAErs in China was, is, and will be ashamed of the indecency committed by FSC Committee in Formula Student China 2011, and the reason why we have not challenged the authority of FSC Committee and defended our own legitimate rights and interests at that time, what we want to clarify here, is rooted in the trait of obedience to authority in Chinese people, including undergraduates, resulted from the control of speech freedom by the government. It’s politic issue and has profound historical and cultural reasons, therefore it’s hard to explain here in detail. However, most FSAE Teams are seemingly in harmony but actually at variance with the FSC Committee, and does not endorse a lot of practices of FSC Committee. To be more specific, what we want to clarify here is that it is not our teams’ intention to manipulate the final results. What most of us cherish and pursue during our team life is definitely the chance to get closer to more practical experience and our dream towards a tangible racecar, which is our original intention to be a part of this intriguing competition, rather than just a false rank manipulated by FSC committee for its own secretive interest.

FSAE China Union, founded in 2009, has now become the most essential and potential platform for Chinese FSAErs to promote technical communication and social cognition of this competition in China. Earlier this year, we managed to bring the Chinese edition of Matt Brown’s RACECAR to the Chinese FSAErs and we are now striving to make it accessible to the public, especially to those who love motorsports. It is our mission to help the teams improve themselves and win more social identity, which can be critical for their long term development. Therefore, from the bottom of our heart, we would like to invite all the FSAE Teams worldwide to JOIN us and ENJOY the competition in Shanghai 2012, and all you guys will be guaranteed our warm welcome and enthusiastic reception. Last but not the least, we promise that most FSAErs will definitely and resolutely safeguard the integrity and inviolability of rules at all costs this time since we all know well that an unjust competition is pointless at all. If necessary, we will publish the unofficial score with our own channel to ensure the authenticity of the final result.

Admittedly, the FSC Committee is far from perfect indeed and has lost of work to do in future, and the gap between teams in China and from abroad can be huge. Nevertheless, most FSAErs are intelligent, diligent, upright and eager to make progress in racecar design, test and manufacture. That is the reason why we send out this invitation.

If there is any detailed information you want to inquire, please directly contact admin@FSAE-China.com.

Hope to see you soon in China in October.

Best Regards,

I guess, we all have to say "Thank you" for the honesty.

Munich showed the way. But in the end, the problem is the money. No European or American team has the money to travel overseas "just for fun".

The problem with the Chinese competition is the level of the car. Munich was far ahead in all disciplines. Why should a team invest $30.000 in such an adventure?

IF a european team has the money to go overseas, the go to the US and vice versa.

Even if a team WOULD have money for three oversea events, the schedule probably would be Michigan-Australasia-Japan.

The only chance is to get sponsors like VDI (in the case of Munich) which pay exactly for this trip and I guess every interessted sponsor invested in Munich.

It's sad but therefore I'm quiet sure, no euro team will do the trip again in near future...

Good luck with the competition. I look forward to see the Chinese team in Hockenheim. Maybe they prove me wrong and afterwards China is the way to go http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Chalmers is going to China this year. Sponsored by Volvo cars which is now Chinese owned. Hopefully they will enjoy being there.
