Would be cool if there would be an English section (my Chinese isn't that good) or did I just not find it?
it looks like there is a big red button in the corner that says English, but only refreshes the page.

teams from outside of china won't be allowed to take part in the 2010 competition. dunno if the rules may change in 2011 so more teams can go there and have fun.
Ok now I found the non-working English button, too ;-)
I think that is the first FSAE event where foreign teams aren't allowed to attend. What's the reason for such a rule?

because all the teams of China are not good enough to compete with the advanced FSAE team from Europe and USA.
The China-SAE wants to protect the first year teams ,hehe

From the website, it looks like all the teams have to use the same type of engine...

Believe it or not, I think I may know the reason for not allowing International teams. If you have ever noticed, the Chinese ONLY use domestic engines. (99% of all other team use foreign engines).
And the most powerful Chinese bike engine (conveniently 600cc) is a single cylinder 4 spd dirtbike style engine that produces 30kW unrestricted. (I may be wrong on this). The reason the Chinese teams never moved to the high reeving 4 cylinder is because its illegal in China. Illegal to import, illegal to buy, thus illegal to ride. The reason behind this is because those pocket rockets are too cheap to buy and would outrun the Chinese highway patrol's 1.6L Jettas.
So I guess if you want to compete in FSAE China, ditch your Honda/Yamaha/Kawi/Aprillia and buy a Chinese engine. And of course you need the Chinese government to let you in.
I think this FSAE China would be one of the most interesting FSAE comps in the pass 30 years of formula history. If I remember correctly, there has only been 3 Chinese teams. Hunan (07 fsae west, and 08 fsae west), Shanghai JT Uni (08 fsae west), and Xiamen (09 fsae west). And since all teams are probably going to resort to that 30kW engine, the playing field would be so so so flat. And I think it would be quite interesting to see 80% (purely guessing) of the teams being first year teams.

Is that an official FSAE event? First formula student event in China? There are some cars on the website that don't look like 1st year cars.

as someone mentioned above, it is illegal to buy, sell, ride anything over 125s.
some places in china have banned motorised 2-wheeled vehicles completely, such as the place im originally from
i think this will be an interesting event to watch since alot of the chinese students probably wont have a preconception of what a 'race car' is meant to be unlike alot of us, which means they COULD come up with something revolutionary, same goes for indian teams too
or i could be completely wrong and freaking myself out http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

it is the first FSAE competetion in China,so we need a trial first.Maybe this is what the Committees pay attention to.

it is still not as bad as some of the sponsorship proposals I've gotten from schools from a certain subcontinent. The one had a photoshopped picture of TU Graz's car represented as their design.
