Hey, what kind of master cylinders does everyone run? I'm a freshman and was put in charge of finding our master cylinders so just wanted to get some feedback from other people.
Thanks

Heh, I asked that question a couple months ago. If I were to tell you what master cylinder I wanted to use, it'd be meaningless. The important things are the specs on it. Check out the other brake threads here, and do the calculatons from your pedal input force to how much decelerative g's you get. In there somewhere is a master cylinder area ratio. You have to understand the whole braking system (Here's a good site: http://www.carbibles.com/brake_bible.html) and work very closely (i.e. do the calculations with) the rest of the people in your brake group. If your master cylinder doesn't match his pad size or her pedal ratio, the braking system wil be ineffective.
edit: to do the calculations, either get one of the spreadsheets that's floating around or check out "Modeling and Simulaton of Dynamic Systems" by Dr. Rob Woods, the UTA FSAE faculty advisor. Title of the book makes it sound hard, but he has a chapter where he outlines all the calculations thoroughly and straightforward-ly.
