You guys showed excellent work and determination year by year. I was hoping if you guys would share some of your best pointers / tips, it would greatly help the teams that are just starting out.
Sorry I dont mean to underestimate the other teams, feel free to post as well!
Thank you.

I also congragulate Cornell. You all built a very impressive car and showed great sportsmanship towards me and the rest of Maryland. Thanks

Very impressive how much effort really goes into thier car. While it would have been nice for another team to win, thier effort was impressive...even if it meant borrowing our generator to work all through the night http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

LOL...thanks for the generator, then. We're always gracious to those who help us out (RPI lent us a fire extinguisher after ours went AWOL before auto-x...thanks for that as well...) and at least I've tried to encourage us to return favours to the best of our ability (e.g., we helped Universidad Central de Venezuela with some cost report information, and met them after the panoramic shot for a separate picture...great folk...and provided a very compelling case to visit Venezuela. Should anyone down there need a faculty advisor, I'm available very shortly. :-)
I don't believe we shut down this year. That's par for the course. In my five years, we've shut down completely at night three times - twice I think last year (we literally had nothing to do - last year was super efficient) and certainly once in 2002, since I was forcibly awakened at 4am to be transported out to the lot to put the freaking car back in the truck.
We particularly liked Maryland's car, but we're naturally attracted to fast red things, so there could be some bias there. :-)
I have a few general thoughts on how this dynasty came to be (and more important, kept going), but it's late, I've got two other important things to do in the next 24 hours, and I'm still recovering from sleep deprivation here.
I'll be sure to get around to it within the week though, if only to sort out the various theories in my head. (Warning: the answer's going to be long, complex, and vaguely indeterminate. Most answers to complex problems are. I couldn't give you detailed instructions on how to win a championship if I tried. No such animal exists.)

I've got no problem with long, complex and vaguely indeterminate. Of course, anyone who has read one of my posts right through to the end would already be aware of that.
Looking forward to the next installment....

Hey Michael, just saw these post here on the forum, i'm one of the guys from Venezuela, congratulations again on wining!!! seen your car run was great!!!
I just want to add that we send help e-mails to a large number of University's and the only poeple that respond were the guys in Cornell (They were the last we tought were goin to respond, we even send the e-mail just in case, we never thought the #1 Team would help a bunch of first time guys from Venezuela) They prove me wrong before and after the competition. They are a cool team and they want to compete with other good teams!!! that is so cool!!!.
Just to say when you guys come to Venezuela give us a call, we will take you to the cool places, the best beaches and find you some buetifull Venezuelan girls!!!
Take care guys hope to see you on the 2006 competition!!!

I'm so sorry for missing you out guys in the e-mail.
Were all so gratefull off all the help given to us from these two universitys and all the ones that helped us during the competition.

Yeah, the dynasty thing's turned into a much larger effort, and I've been sidetracked by a couple of things (new job, new place, and two other papers in the works on FSAE stuff...)
Will get back to that idea soon enough. I'm writing a paper on it. Half done. Will be done probably in the next couple of months. Will post it here.
