Hello all,
I am more than likely going to be the only person from my team(Florida Tech) going to Michigan this year and I was wondering if there were any teams that would let me shadow them and get a feel for what to really expect from competition?
Carlos
Also does it snow in Michigan in May?

Snow is unlikely, but expect at least one day where it is 40 degrees and raining. Dress in layers, because it goes from 40 and raining to 75 and sunny in about 2 hours.
Anyways, there's no need to shadow any one team. Everyone is very open about their program, and you can just generally walk around and ask questions of everyone. Remember, no one team does everything "right" so it's a good idea to see how a lot of top teams run things at comp.

40 degrees?! O man that sucks lol. They should have the competition at Sebring or Daytona...
Well that is pretty cool but I'd like to see the in and outs of actually running a team vs specific questions.

Dude. Come join the Jacksonville, FL University of North Florida team, Osprey Racing.
We have about 7 members that are going to scout competition this year. I went last year and UF was super nice and let me shadow them.
They're a really good team to look up to.
We'll probably pick their brains again this year, but since there are 7 of us we'll be all over the place.
Get transportation up to MI and you can hang with us.
p.s. check out our progress at

Hah, that crazy Michigan weather... Last year we departed from Greece with about 30deg (Celsius that is), we arrived at Michigan with an (expected) temperature of 15deg, which got into a storm and about 5 the day after, and all of a sudden in a matter of hours into a sunny hell (25+). Note we all suffered from sunburns, as we worked under the (most intense ever) sun, and note that this was my first sunburn since I was 8..... Nevertheless, I wish I could be there this year too!
Oh about that michigan weather... there was about 6 inches of snow that accumulated monday morning this week and the majority of it was melted before I got home from work that afternoon. In michigan expected the unexpected.

Yeah, last year we were testing Monday or Tuesday morning before comp and saw 32F outside, got to comp at ~40 and raining and by Friday it was sunny and 75.
Thus is Michigan.

Come hang out with Oxford Brookes Racing! As far as weather expect it to pour rain for two days and be amazing for the other two days.
Don't forget that Adrian college is close by, lots of tail to be had at that place http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll definitely be stopping by OBR's pit. I've been following the progress of the car on facebook and it is a very good looking FSAE car.

Does anyone happen to have an empty or near empty hotel room in the Brooklyn Super 8 that they would be willing to share? I would be happy to pay the price of the room per night.
