Background info: The CV joint here being used as a spherical joint with an additional DOF constrain to prevent the shock from spinning w.r.t. the chassis. Stated differently, the CV gives the correct number of DOFs for the system.

Now to your issue: The orientation here shouldn't affect anything, since its constraining rotation, not transferring it. Are you getting some error you think to be related to the hooke joint? The fix involves template modification, which I recommend avoiding if possible if you are a novice user.
