hi all...
i wanted to know what the advantage of having equal driveshafts is(when you have a differential also).i heard that is gives you equal distribution of torque.....but is'nt that what the differential does??

This has been discussed a little before. The supposed difference has to do with the twisting of the shafts. Think about what happens when you twist two shafts of different lengths.

I personally feel that in our cars the shafts are short enough that any difference in length would be so small that it would not come into play here. That is merely the mechanic in me talking; the engineer in me is out to lunch.
