Hi guys!! it's the first time our team needs to fill the SEF and we have a couple of doubts, we changed the geometry of the tube section and i'm not sure what kind of calculation do i have to send with the form.
Is there an place were a could get this info? any of you have done this before?

Second moment of area - you'll probably have done this before in physics or 1st year classes:

If it's just round or square tube, I threw up an excel spreadsheet here that might come in handy.
If you are worried about the rounded corners square section tubes have (the spreadsheet and those wikipedia pages assume sharp corners), the Formula Student Germany committe at least doesn't seem to mind either way.

It all boils down to ultimate strength and distortion energy comparisons for tension, bending and buckling.
Also note that, according to the Formula SAE rulebook, "all steels are considered equal..." That's another topic unto itself.

Just wondering, is this form required by all FSAE teams or only if you are using the alternative materials, aka anything that is a low carbon steel?
More specifically do you have to fill it out if you are using 1020 or 4130?

Structural Equivalency is not required for 1020 or 4130, as per the rules, all steels are treated equally. Therefore, you still have to maintain all of the requirements specified in the rules for the minimum 1010 steel...
