Well, there goes tradition huh? Just wanted to let anyone, who enjoyed Big Buck after comp, know about it http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

We sure did run up some LARGE bar tabs in that place, salvaging fun from car failures. It'll be missed

That sucks...

Shouldn't this be in the main forum? Big Buck was a major part of comp, not an off-topic side note.

NOOOOOOOOOOO
I've been to two competitions as a spectator now, and planning my first trip as a competitor this year. Though we have enjoyed quite a few buck nakeds, I was really looking forward to enjoying a few after finishing endurance this year. Hell the members that went with me are using that amazing beer and steak reward as a motivation tool for the others during these grueling winter months.... I don't think I'm telling the rest of the team until May...

That is just terrible. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Some of my best memories were at Big Bucks after competition, meeting and socializing with other teams.

I moved this discussion from "Off Topic" to "Open Discussion" at the request of Dr. Claw.

Too bad Big Buck is closing. It was a fun place.
Dave & Buster's in Fontana last year wasn't nearly as good.

Big Buck was also the sight of a few of my favorite FSAE memories (http://fsae.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/825607348/m/39210181521?r=86310403521#86310403521)...

Well, our team had fun at Dave and Busters because our advisor bought all 4 of us a power combo for working so hard. that was the best gaming ever!

Still, it is sad to see that Bucks is closing. I went as a spectator in 04, and enjoyed the hell out of it!

Maybe you guys should pick out a new destination for the after comp ritual. Last year was my first year at comp and I had no idea about the Big Buck Brewery. We ended up at Dave and Buster's which wasn't anything to rave about, although we did get to meet a couple of other teams.

There's always Windsor, CA! Nah that's a bit of a drive. We defin went up there in 05 after our voltage regulator died in endurance. Was nearly deadly for some of us. Well, me. I'm amazed I didn't get thrown out of whatever bar we were at last.

Can't say I know the finer social places in Detroit..

That really sucks. Big Buck's beer and burgers were awesome, and team shirt trading at the end was a blast

A picture in memory:

The article says they aren't just closing, they are just leaving their current location because the rent is skyrocketing. Currently they are finding a new place to relocate to- so depending on where the new location is....maybe it's not a dead tradition yet.

It says they are probably moving downtown somewhere. Hopefully somewhere nice, I remember last year they closed one of the exits, and we had to drive through...an interesting...part of detroit to get home. But at the same time i hope its not too far away

I work right next door. There has been talk of them going out of business for years. I think they have even closed before. This time is for sure though they pulled out all the equipment and everything.
