Project Manegment Software

Do other teams use project management software? I am having trouble finding something in between a to do list with milestones (basecamp) and software similar to Microsoft project.

Our team is in reconstruction and have been told more organization is a necessity. All help is appreciated.

I used microsoft project pretty extensively last year. I'd recommend it to any team. The biggest advantage is being able to think through the processes required to get a running car, I found it a really easy way of keeping track of where we were up to particularly in the early stages of the year.
