Have searched past posts, not too much info.

what kind of safety factors are people running for respected bits of the car?

Also what assumptions have peolple made for latteral accel, braking and bump?

Am just wondering in an effort to save weight how low can I go.

Factor of safety 1.6, or 2 for more critical items. Factor of safety is over and above worst case scenarios i.e. all weight on rear wheels while accelerating etc...

Same here. Although factor of safety is actually considerably higher with those assumptions.

I designed our suspension to have a FS=1 for the worst case loading...someone picking up the car by the middle of the A-arms.

We don't have the issue of picking up the car by the middle of the arms. I just let the freshmen know that if they bend my arms, i get to bend theirs.... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

So we're to understand that you want to "bend freshman's a arms" huh?
