View Full Version : Another reason to love FSAE

At the competition this year, aside from seeing some very impressive engineering, I saw even more examples of why I love FSAE.
- Seeing teams like Western Washington work non-stop throughout the event just to get a chance to compete after their engine blew on the starting line of their first event (and then being so tired they were nearly falling asleep at poker Saturday night, right Travis?).
- Meeting the U of Washington team seeing the pride and professionalism that they showed, always asking us how we were doing and congratulating us on our accomplishments.
- Watching the great sportsmanship as several teams who realize that this is still a colligate event helped each other out and shared knowledge with one another.
Although a couple of teams got my ire a bit with their poor attitudes, the other 98% of the teams did an outstanding job and it is the interaction between the teams that make this event great.
Good job everybody!

I would have to agree Sam. After all of these years I still love Pontaic in the Spring http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Thanks to everyone for a great competition!

I think James already said once on here but I just want to send out a huge thank you to the U of Idaho guys and the UW guys.
Denny (from UW) tore apart some of their equipment for us at one point for us just to help us out with some bolts we needed...definetly more than we had asked for...
Idaho literaly hauled their old car out of their trailor so we could steal its F3...not only that they helped us tear it apart. WAY above and beyond simply lending a hand to a pit neighbor...Sam one of the WWU guys will be coming to visit you in the very near future with an F3...
It was a little embarassing working so hard next to teams who obviously had a lot of testing behind them...but the support of everyone there was amazing...

I am sure I can find few nice cold beverages around town if they come out to visit. I am pretty sure I can even find them a bed if they need it.

Starter mount on a customized plate for the dry sump system (starter fell off, couldn't be reattached). In the enduro, the failure was caused by a battery.

Since were on topic, I would also like to thank Waterlo for thir help. A couple days before competition, our only R6 dropped three valves and chewed itself beyond repair. We had too pick up a new egine on our way to Detroit and the guys from Waterloo donated machine shop, welding and floor space in their shop so we could make the swap and repairs, all without complaining as we gawked at their car. I know that this is one of many such stories but we would have been royaly f***ed without these guys!!
Cheers
