As far as taking the vehicle off of the competition grounds that is the same as how I had allready interpreted the rules. However, not being able to work on the car overnight will likely cause a lot of problems. Although, I can understand why the sites would be closed at night.

well, the Ford proving ground aren't only far from food or hotels, but also won't let you bring camera's or work on your cars late...to think we were originally excited about competing here, this is a bummer...
guess we really will be a drinking team with a racing problem http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm sure they will reach some sort of compromise on cameras. I'm not at all interested in getting shots of any of Ford's secret vehicles or whatever might be roaming around. I'm more concerned with getting shots of everyone else's FSAE cars.
It seems the easiest solution would be for Ford to take a break from testing the days the FSAE teams are in town and on site.
for sure some people will try to sneak some cameras in! How many cameras are on the site during a competition! I've been to the Silverdome three years and is crazy! Imagine having a one year gap in the Formula SAE pictures collection, that would be stupid I hope they'll find a way
Anybody knows where the parking lot will be??? We were not planning on renting hotel rooms since we might have a RV...

no working on cars after 6:45, thats pretty lame, we worked 4 days straight with no sleep at the 04 competition....thats a big difference......Ya its nice of FERD to give us a track to race on, but if theres so many rules, why not just do it at a Kmart parkinglot and deal with some potholes.....

I've heard from people on the inside, that a memo went out weeks ago saying the all stuff at the proving grounds is to be put away where no one can see it. No camo'd vehicles, no pre-production, etc. Everything is supposed to be removed, so I can't imagine why cameras would be a problem.

Yet another US Motorsport Venue being ruined http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Anyone who is complaining that this overnight rule is 'a joke' or the event venue is being 'ruined,' well, all I can say is you're being pathetic. Literally. (look it up).
Yes it is unfortunate. But the race will still go on. You get 14 hours to get your work done. That is not unreasonable. Worst case, you have to take your vehicle off-site. You get approval to do so, and you have to get it re-inspected. It's more work than normal. it's not the end of the world! Is that really a back breaker? Then you have a pretty piss-poor spine.
Unless all you are after is pity, enough with the complaining! Be constructive if you want things to change. If you can't be constructive, then deal with it!
The Aussie event has always had a closing and opening time. I never saw such complaining from any of those competitors.

Yeah if you need to work on your car all night( I understand sometimes it is needed) you have bigger issues than checking it out. That will be the easiest thing you have to do it you are gonna tear apart your car later that night. I would expect Ford to clean up the place and put everything inside, its not like they don't know were coming they've known for at least a year.

I'm already graduated and in the real world of motorsports. I don't need to complain about the rules, merely commenting how its a bad decision.
I'd be much more worried about what people will end up doing now that they can't be onsite all night...more specifically what people will end up doing with thier rental cars http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Haven't you guys at Honda IRL ever needed to work overnight?
