Our team is currently set on running Goodyear tires with a 13" wheel. However, we are having a bit of a debate on whether to use the 6.5" or 8" wide wheel offered. If we did go to the 8", we would probably only do so in the rear. I was also thinking that since Goodyear doesn't offer a 8" wide rain tire that you would have to change your set-up somewhat when changing from rains to slick, which of course wouldn't be optimal. What do some of you guys think?

We currently run Hoosier 20x7-13's, and I wouldn't want to go any wider until I figure out how to fit a hayabusa motor in the car for summer training. Narrower might be good for cooler weather. It's worked for UTA and Wollongong.

AND, we test in 38 deg C heat (100F).

we have do burnouts to get the rears above 60 deg C

A little bird told me that Messrs Commins and Evans were seen warming rear tyres at the recent Mount Cotton hillclimb.
There has to be a story there.

yeah it was a good day, thx pat

mark fenning had a little "off", which scared him and scratched the sidepods a little

georgie did a 45.11, which was 0.3 off some of the 1300cc's

and the locals got a good look at the car

Looking at the results .xls, you guys really did do well.
Was there any temptation to take off the restrictor and run the 'special' fuel map I am sure you have? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I bet there were a lot of guys with far more expensive cars scratching their heads!
For anyone going to FStudent, be aware these guys are out practicing in open competition...so, watch out!

PS, the 'Little Bird' rang the wreckers on Monday looking for a Hayabusa or a GPz1200.
He figures a car like yours with regulation roll bars and the front wheels moved forward a bit might be a real hillclimb weapon!

To be honest, we don't have that "special" map yet. I think it might lead to silliness in the long run. I got no problems if they want to do one though.

I'm not sure if the guys have told you yet Pat, but it's a 100% final decision that we're taking a new car to FS.

New chassis (stiffer), new suspension (essentially the same, a bit more castor angle, a drivers adjustable front ARB, smaller rodends and sphericals), new live front axle and new drivetrain components (chasing weight)

We did a spot of "wet testing" in the old car recently. Practicing the traction / launch control setup, ARB and shock setting changes. Big time understeer prompted the drivers adjustable ARB design on the new car, we were thinking "what if it got a bit wet half way through an enduro"

The chassis is almost done, I crack tested 2/3 of it yesterday.

We're hoping to show people that a serious design change can be done in 6 months.

If that "little bird" wants any help, we'd be glad to give a peak at our "nest".

Hey Frank,

You guys are obviously still planning to fly the car to the UK correct?? Steve at RMIT just got an accurate quote on air freight and the cost was enormous because it they classified the entire car as dangerous goods. I am wondering what your people have said about that?? Because of the cost we are now shipping the car and hence have to have it off by May 10.

Good luck getting the new car done in time. The amount of work we are having to put in to get ours back up to standard makes the decision to make an entire new car look smart. Our new car is far too complex to make in the short period of time to the UK unfortunately. Besides the old one still hasn't reached its full potential by any means.

BTW, how in the hell are you fitting all this in around work?? Im really struggling.
