Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows what the differences are between the Drexler FS 2008 differential and the Drexler FS 2010 diff?? I know the prices are different, but does the '10 version give something the '08 doesn't? better performance? lighter?
Cheers

I'm not sure what differences there are performance wise. I spoke with a tech from Drexler who informed me they had some issues with sealing on the 2008 version and the 2010 version was supposed to solve the issue.

The new one has a different housing which is much better sealed than the old one(that was always leaking...). Exept of the hausing they changed the splines betwenn housing and inertials.
The new one is slightly lighter than the old one and its much easier to fill it with oil (has tree filling/ventilation openings instead of one)
however the performance i would say has not changed..

does the 2010 versions new internal spline have any sort of retaining mechanism?
one issue we experienced was the 2009 diff heating up after extended driving and the pressure increasing in the diff to the point where it was "popping" a stub-shaft out and disengaging the splines.

I'm quite sure that the 08 has threaded side gears, so you can drill through your stub-shaft and fix it with a bolt...
