rohitkj,

Clearly, in your hurry get an answer to your question you have forgotten to read the "If you are new here..." thread which is in bold at the top of the threads list.

Good luck with that. We won't do your job for you. Be an engineer and do some basic research your self. If you can't even do that might I suggest a change of profession.

Ever heard of books?

There is one by Frank Puhn that is pretty good called "Brake Design Handbook" (or something like that). Has pretty much everything you need to know to design your brake system.

Remember this is Baja we are talking about...

As I recall most baja teams don't use brake formulas. They usually just slap a bunch of random components together, occasionally make an attempt to bleed the brakes, and then spray things on the tires until they can get them to lock up.

You'll find all the answers you need here:

You dont need calcs... just either get some brakes off of a quad or plasma cut some rotors out of a sheet of steel and use whatever caliper seems to fit. Worked for our baja team.

First off, well played dude from IA State (Both of you).
Second. Hey Hey Hey, don't talk shit about Baja. They know what they are doing at our school at least (and have been more successful than we have been). I can only pass on what I have heard about Baja judging, it is weak sauce. Your team might get a few minutes with a judge for each sub-sysytem in the design presentation and they do not schedule appt's for post design comp design reviews. Completely F'd up in my opinion. How are you supposed to learn? How are you supposed to improve in meaningful ways? Just guess I suppose. Anyway, back to the OP, check out the book titled Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics by some guy named Gillepsie. He might be on your level of understanding. But maybe not...

I will concede, as of 2010 our baja team did begin using brake calcs for the first time. I only wish I were clever enough to come up with the whole "spray stuff on the tires until you can get them to lock" thing. They actually told me that is common practice, and Armor All works well. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif As for bleeding brakes, that may just take care of itself as evidenced by this:

https://s-hphotos-iad1.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/297145_10100289135991120_16912542_48276742_1695576 186_n.jpg

This photograph instantly raises three questions:
1. When did brake fluid start coming in 1 gal. containers
2. Who, outside of an OEM, would ever need brake fluid in 1 gallon increments
3. Why is there already a quart missing from this bottle?

And for the record our baja team actually does do quite well comparatively. +1 on their design judging being, as far as I can tell, incredibly sub-par compared to Formula.

Or perhaps I'm still just bitter about the time a couple years ago our baja team decided to drive their CVT car without any brakes or kill switch, a throttle that liked to stick wide open. Fortunately the only result was $5000 in damage after they t-boned our dually. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif Oh yeah, it gets better: Fortunately that incident happened right before the parade. That's right, they almost drove the car in a parade like that. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

We are going to try and make them out of Aluminum this year, I suspect you will have some laying around this year? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
