Hopefully it can get back to the way it was in the mid 90's. That's when I became interested in race cars and led me to join a Formula SAE team.

I second that. I feel badly for all the teams that spent money buying and developing DP01s. At least they get a free dallara and engine lease plus a chunk of "change". I'll be looking forward to the official 08 schedule.

Good luck this season.

So does anybody know what's happening to all of the DP01's? How about the Atlantic series?

Maybe you can score a sweet deal on a DP01 as a track day car http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Panoz made a very similar car that is slated for a new series called 'Superleague Formula.' Sort of like A1GP, but based on football (soccer) teams. Sounds very strange, but if it makes it, that series would be interested in the DP01 cars, which I think share tubs, and probably many other components.

Atlantics are alive and well, if you haven't heard already. Kalhoven has made it a point to keep them alive. They will race a full 12 race schedule....although it is yet to be determined with who or where.

I can't believe it finally happened! Back when I was working at Honda on the CART engine program, it was talked about a lot and almost happened at least once.

Its just going to take time to see if open wheel racing can get back to what it once was. It wont be easy, but i'll be at the long beach grand prix for the last Champ Car race!

I think it might be to the advantage of the series that PT doesn't partake in the season, at least when considering attrition due to PTs' "my way or the highway driving style". As a Canadian I feel for him, but I think PR will be better if its focused on Danica slapping the new Cart converts around.

Hurray for a great Indy 500 to come though <:

Wooly bad news, Team Australia just called it quits. It looks like Will Power is out of a ride for this year. That's the second Champ Car team to be forced to leave due to lack of sponsorship to fund the switch. I guess $1M and a car isn't enough to get going.

It looks like the Champ Car teams got the short end of the stick. I wouldn't be surprised if more teams announce they're quitting before the season starts.

Cheers,
