Hi, I am having trouble validating the rear section of a spaceframe in solidworks. See pictures...

So the spaceframe is using weldments, whereas the bracket/gusset plates are modelled as one part. The simulation shows a separate stress plot for both the spaceframe and the bracket/gusset plates. I am not sure if the forces that have been applied are being transmitted through the bracket/gussets to the s.frame correctly.

I want to simulate the bracket/gusset to the chassis via a seam weld. The bracket/gusset simulation (pic 2) shows concentrated stresses along the top (weld) which isn't correct, as it should be more uniform.
The way that it has been fixed was... Connections > Contact Sets > Type (Bonded) between the spaceframe tubes.

So is there a more accurate method for simulating a seam weld?

I have also got the fixtures as the rear suspension hardpoints, which I am not sure is realistic?

Thanks,
JP
