I dont fancy the task of trying to keep that mirror finish GT40 clean. Some very nice cars and photos, I dont know how you managed to drag yourself away from the place http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

maybe someone on here could answer something for me. wont that brace ontop of the lambo's engine only be stressed in compression? under what circumstances will it be in tension?

and aren't most metals better strength to weight in compression? so why carbon fibre?

For a Bling Bling competition winner you are a bit naive about why someone would put carbon there http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just curious, up to what temperature will a carbon brace like that keep it's strenght? I'd guess that would depend on the resin, so what's the temperature range on these kind of resins?

How about torsion?

I don't think it would ever be stressed in tension, but it looks like it should help stiffen the rear section of the chassis in torsion and lateral loading.

these kinds of resins????

there are many kinds of resins each with different ranges of temps they can withstand. for example if it was a vinylester resin used chances are that the temp in that engine bay wouldnt be a problem! we used a high temperature tooling epoxy resin for our monocoque where the engine was inside the tub...all was good.

Almost, that swaybar is a little ugly, the bushings look like they belong on a truck or something. And the moment arm looks very flexible with the link so far offset from it.

But heck, I'd take one...
