Well guys, I don't know if some of you remember a while back my/my colleges posts about running our car too lean/glowing headers. Well yes the engine did run after that, but never correctly. That was until this happened.

And

So that sucked, but now we have a new engine in the car "ready to go." My question is this, when we transferred the dry sump system to the new motor, we just moved all the components. Now we are seeing 160psi at 1000rpms. This is blowing filters and spewing oil everywhere. What could be causing this? BTW the dry sump is turning off the old water pump shaft. Thanks

Where are you measuring the pressure and how? Do you have some sort of vent on your resevoir?

Maybe there is some sort of restriction in the engine upstream of the oil filter that is causing such high psi. It may cause the engine to not get the oil it needs too.

Can you post a picture of all the pistons? I'd also like to get a better idea of the failure mode of the trashed piston (another clearer picture?). Was the broken piston shown in the second picture the only one that got rocked?

Is that a lifter bucket in the first picture? If so, was it also from the same cylinder as the destroyed piston?

Are you using the stock pressure relief valve? If yes has it's outlet been restricted in any way?

If no, what are you using?

Figured out our oil problem. I'm almost, no scratch that, I am embarrassed to say what it is. I forgot to remove the stock oil pump. Man do I feel retarded.

As for other pictures

Can you pull the piston pieces out and get a clearer picture of it? Check to see if your camera has a 'macro' mode that helps to focus better on close shots. How long did the motor continue running after the 'issue'? Did you already figure out what rocked the motor down, or are you still wondering?

The motor wouldn't rev above 9k, so me and another member where messing with it. Playing with the timing and what not. We heard a small bang, and a whoosing noise then the motor just died. It wouldn't do anything after that. These pictures are about a month old, so they're hard to reproduce. Here's one without the majority of the piston fragments.

Here's the fragments
