I'm scheduled to arrive at Heathrow at 7:30am on 7 July. I was wondering if any other teams would be arriving near the same time, and if I could hitch a ride to the competition.
Traveline East Midlands says that I can get to Bruntingthorpe with a quick 5 changes for a total of 4 hours and 29 minutes! I'm not interested in a 4 1/2 tour after flying in from California so I thought I'd ask.

If you can get the train to peterborough (2 changes from heathrow IIRC) I could swing by the station and give you a lift to bruntingthorpe - any use?

Which station are you referring to:
Peterborough Rd/Bishopsford Rd,
Peterborough Rd/ James Lane,
Peterborough Rd (HA1), or
Peterborough Rd Poulter Park?
I will be leaving soon but I can check the forum again at the airport.
You can also email me at ansansolis@hotmail.com
Thanks again.

You need to use the underground from Heathrow to Kings Cross station, then Kings Cross to Peterborough train
http://www.thetrainline.com
Type 'heathrow' and 'peterborough' in to get teh times. You don't need to use the heathrow express (expensive) if you're a cheapskate/student - you cna make a couple of changes on the underground and get there for about £3 not £10! Single to Peterbrough from Kings Cross is about £15 maximum.
Still about 2hrs worth though!

If your offer is still good I'll take it; it beats having to take 5 changes any day.
I figure customs won't be too long since all I have are carry-ons. I shoud be at Peterborough by 10:30am. Does that work for you?
I'll be wearing a large dark gray/black pack on my back and a smaller one on the front. I have short black hair. I hope you get this in time. I'll check the forum again as soon as I land.
Thanks,
Al Noel

Despite my best efforts (he was rather surprised at the UK national limit (+ the odd bit for luck) on the B-Roads around Bruntingthorpe! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) he's fine, but did have to spend the night in London.
I'm down a camera battery though - anybody who picked up a Minolta NP-200 battery off the CSUN pit can you please return it! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
