What kinda car can I chop a zexel torsen diff from.

I'm not involved in skule so FSAE discounts are out, I was wondering, what kinda car I should look for in the scrap yard that I can chop the diff off and still have enough money from my welfare check to buy a box a' beer.

I got splines and casing to fit the zexel torsen so I'm pretty unreceptive to other types of diffs.

Anyone wanna off load one?

The question is, what kind of Torsen do you have? The splines, casing, are not the same for all of them. The Camaro Torsen is quite a bit bigger than the university special.

Try a Mazda Miata...95+. We picked up one for $60!!!

We have also used the torsen diff from a Miata. It is bulletproof and has given us no problems. Hope this helps.

well the uni special is the diff that comes (came) in the audi quattro. They talk about it on their website.

the one you want is out of early to mid 90s audo quattros - it is the centre diff and located inside the end of the transmission

We got one from Alfa Q4. It's a bit heavy (6kg, nothing modified)

Any teams using an open differencial? Is it really so bad? We tried one 4 years ago with our first car. We didn't noticed any problems. (The car had other problems!)

We're thinking to use it this year again because we can't get a torsen. (Anyone has an old one laying arround?)

Any reason why you cant get the torsen diff from the company?? We also are about to order one but havent contacted the company yet for availability.

We're thinkink about it. But 360$ + a lot of shipping costs instead of finding one from junkyard is wasting money.

And 400$ is a lot of money for our team. This could cause not buying new slick tyres (hellooo sponsors,.... where are you?)or other stuff which we need more than a new diff. + we have an good light as new open differential.

We have an differential from an Alfa Q4.
It weights a bit more than 6 kg and is arround 20% bigger than the uni special. (As I remember from seeing the uni s. at formula student!)

I don't know the exact splines and sizes. Sorry. But the Hummer and the Miata surely don't run the same splines, or do they?
