Does anyone know if a state driver's license is enough identification to return to the United States after visiting Canada? Should we bring other documents if for some reason some of our team members don't get their passports on time?
Will military IDs be sufficient?

I'm not sure if a driver license is sufficient anymore since 9/11.
A birth certificate along with your driver's license for U.S. nationals is sufficient for re-entry.
For lawful permanent resident, a green card (Permanent Resident Card), a Reentry Permit, or a Returning Resident Visa would suffice.
For Aliens, you should have your passport and a valid visa issued by a U.S. Consular Official.
Unacceptable identifications example: social security card

If for some reason a U.S. national can't find those documents, go to one of the Passport Agencies around the country:
http://www.travel.state.gov/agencies_list.html
Depending on urgency of your case and load the agency receives, you might get your passport in 45 mins or have to wait around all day.
Each agency have their own little quirks about walk-ins, so call them up before you go.
