View Full Version : Anyone know of Fuel tank level indicator electronics?

I am looking for a fuel tank level indicator system, basically just configurable relays that trigger LED's at a certain resistance.

Does anyone know of any premade setups for this?

And if you are thinking why not get a fuel guage, there are not really any fuel guages that work with the fuel sender I am using (and I can't change the fuel sender either).

I think the easiest solution is just to make a simple level indicator using relays and some led's, but I was looking to see if any preconfigured setups like this already exist for universal applications.

On a similar note, does anyone monitor fuel flow?

Not sure, but basically if you have a tripometer and you monitor howmuch fuel you put in, thatsit really.

Have a look at http://cache.national.com/ds/LM/LM3914.pdf
The data sheet examples should get you on the road. You don't have to connect all the leds so you can have leds for only a couple of interesting levels.
Please don't use relays, I won't be able to sleep at night http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

By the way, what kind of fuel sender are people using.
