Just wondering what good books are out for manifold design, both intake and exhaust.

Thanks
Omar

It's hard to find good books on just this, try the following SAE papers to start with.

2002-01-0457
2002-01-3295
2002-01-3316
983078
2000-01-3090
2001-01-2553

"Design and Simulation of Four Stroke Engines" by G Blair is very in depth (read - bloody full on), it concentrates on mainly gas and thermo dynamics.

Subscribe to "Race Engine Technology" sister publication to "Race Tech".

"Four Stroke Performance Tuning" is hands on, not very much maths, and more to do with modification, which I guess is what we're doing.

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

"Advanced Engine Technology" Heisler, SAE 1995.
Its a very thick book, must be good then.

There is one obscure book called, "Scientific design of exhaust systems" or similar. Sorry, dont have it in front of me. It goes into all sorts of interesting shit. Can u tell im an engineer?

Scientific design of Intake and Exhaust Systems is the one I think your talking about D Mack, good book even if its a little bit old.

Check out Design Techniques for Engine Manifolds and Theory of Engine Manifold Design, both by Winterbone and Pearson.

No I actually returned it along with Miliken, some inconsiderate person put a hold on them. And I only had them for a year! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
