We're up in freezing New Hampshire, and were wondering when people get their cars completely done. We'll be done hopefully by mid-March, in time to head south for Spring Break. We can't drive anywhere around here until April because of weather conditions.

Just wondering how people are coming along for this year

Ariel, we are also freezing in New Hampshire, and we are also looking to complete our car mid to late march.

How far along is the Dartmouth car? Our frame is done and our engine is running and should be mounted this weekend. Suspension/upright fabrication is our biggest hang up currently.

I completely forgot that you guys had a team, keep in touch.

We're hoping to start the engine during our spring break in early March, and rolling tests as soon as the snow melts a bit.

Calling it complete at that point would be a gross overstatement, we'll still be left with a lot of details to tackle...crush zone, bodywork painting, etc., not to mention fixing the inevitable testing mishaps.

about 1 1/2 more weeks for us until we have a working car that just needs some small things done - but it will be ready for dyno runs for tuning, then testing at the track

too bad there is still snow all over the place - we might need to drive south to test

The 2004 car is done and being driven weekdays up at the mall, who have graciously helped us out. Drivers are generally pleased but do request that it get warmer in a damn hurry. They're a hardy bunch - they even went out the other day when the high was 10F. Driving quality sucks in this temperature of course. Last I drove in such temps, we were posting skidpads in the 7s range. Seat time is seat time though, and we're able to at least find out what things fall off (e.g., the crushable...)

Met our March 1st deadline. Had our shakedown today after much hindering. Anywho, check out the pics on our website:

www.unm.edu/~fsae (http://www.unm.edu/~fsae)

She weighs in at 407 dry, but that's with stock intake and exhaust. Hope to have the real intake and exhaust done by Mid March.

Hey everyone,

Wow, everyone getting done early, sounds like it's going to be a great competition in Detroit this year!

UT Arlington is about a week away from it's first drive. The chassis is powdercoated, and those familiar with our bodywork, the fabric is on and painted, with sidepods and nose following up in the next couple of weeks. After that just the finishing touches.

Everyone here is really excited, I think myself more than any, about getting done in time for our spring break. This is the earliest that our car has ever been done in the years that I have been here! I can't wait to see everyone and their entries in Detroit!! Maybe we won't be so busy working on our car this year *knocks on wood*!

Good Luck with the testing guys and gals! Dartmouth, I can't wait to see your car!

I'll have to remember that one the next time I use that phrase and Dr. Woods is standing around. I think he might get a kick out of it.

Anyways... just a few more days now... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We at LeTourneau are in the same situation exactly. Hopefully the engine will be mounted tonight, but the suspension has a little ways to go.

We will miss our deadline of drivable car for end of lectures (April 5) but it wont be a loss because no one is going to drive before this, too much snow on the ground, and besides as soon as lectures ends everyone studies instead of working on the car.

We still hope to get the first drive in before exams start but just to say that we did.

Also, we only got our steel for our spaceframe 2 weeks ago!!!!!

BUT - its almost finished - getting the tabs welded on this weekend.

Hows that - from steel arrived to finished chassis in just over 2 weeks.

BTW - I love those wheels Denny - they must be super light and have awesome grip on the ice.

Tonight. Weighed in at 460 lbs wet without bodywork. I think we will likely have to add about 15lbs for the body and misc repairs. Plan to drive it on Sunday if the weather holds.

Us aussies will be competing in December, but our car will be drivable mid july. We want to put some serious kilometres on it this year.
