Hmm
our tyres are 20.0" * 6"
so we got the (3 on one tyre) tyre pyro's working today
it was 32 C (90F) in the air
and after 10 mins hard driving, we could only get the front tyres to 54 C average (130F)
locking the brakes up big time sent temps up a bit, a rise in corners noticeable but still the highest temp we got al day (for the total of 3 seconds) was 70 C (160 F)
tyre pressures were IMO really low, at 11 PSI hot
conclusion, these tyres are too big, too hard, too cold
has anyone got these things hot before?

In a word: no. Frank your conclusions are pretty darn accurate: too hard, too cold. I'm still pondering the too big.
But I agree, these tires are not meant for our light vehicle application.

Sure we've got them hot. If you think you've got problems, you should try it in Detroit! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Frank, remember I'm in Brisbane this week, so if you want me to come look at your tyres, give me a call after 4pm.
Pat
PS, remember, it will be a darn sight hotter at Tailem Bend in December!
