View Full Version : Pressure blow-off on Diff case?

Is it necessary to have a pressure blow-off on the differential case?
Our school used one two years ago when the diff was spinning in a stationary case, but we are spinning the sealed diff this year, and don't know how much to worry about the pressure build-up.
What are your thoughts?

You'll force fluid or air out your seals for your intermediate shafts before it explodes from the pressure. No worries.

Yeah I figured that's where it would leak but I thought you could avoid unplesent oil leaks out onto your stub shafts / brakes / the track, if you use a valve thingy...

We didn't run a vented diff last year and had small leaks around our stubshafts. This year we are using a valve thingy.
