Greetings,

I searched the forum for posts relating to wireless systems but found nothing. Toledo is designing the '04 electrical system to include wireless modules that will be active during competition events. Interference with other radios is a concern not only to my team but to anyone else on the same frequencies.

If we know before competition who will be using what frequencies, we can anticipate problems and design accordingly. E.g. design protocols that don't monopolize bandwidth, adjust antenna gain/directivity, or choose different frequencies entirely.

Toledo plans to use two frequencies in the 900 MHz band under FCC part 15 regulations. If you need more specific details, let me know.

Please feel free to post your intended wireless frequencies (that you will use at Pontiac) or email me directly at leecross98@yahoo.com .

Is this going to be for wireless telemtry, or what? Did you check the fine details of the rulevook to make sure its legal.

Goodluck!

after hacking into the Toledo server, i have found their new design files! here is their concept:

- this has been yet another thoughtful and intelligent post from gugedy...

okay, now that ive got the stupidity out of my system (for 5 minutes at least)...

unless they are actually going for remote control, there isnt any rules regarding wireless stuff is there? which parts of the rules are you thinking of bavarian?

i feel sort of weird addressing someone as "bavarian"... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

- if it isnt coming, you need a bigger tool.

Wow gug, I thought our website security was air tight. The main advantage of the '04 design is weight savings - we managed to shave off 150 lbs by eliminating the driver and then another 500 lbs by making the car one foot long and entirely out of plastic.

The intent of the wireless modules would fall primarily under wire replacement, however it will also be used for telemetry during testing. I did a keyword search through the rules and didn't find any restrictions placed on the use of wireless communication. I too am interested in Bavarian's possible rule reference.

The only catch is that if you run it during competition, you need to include it in your cost report.
