I am interested to know what things people have done as a thesis for FSAE.

We made a thesis based on vehicle dynamics simulation (multibody analysis using Adams/Motorsport).
Now we have a new thesis on the virtual simulation vs experimental analysis comparison, and the next will be the design of the new chassis (2004). http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Totally different field, but my dissertation is on organizational learning and knowledge management processes, with Cornell FSAE as the main case study.

I'm thinking about making an engine (over 2 years) for FSAE for my thesis. I don't think I'd do a V8; it's been done. But I have this idea for a structural boxer twin with the pistons longitudinal, a cvt, and a leischolm (sp?) supercharger that keeps floating in my head. A lot of it depends on where I go, and how much CNC time they let me have.

There are lots of them just google it.
Thesis on component design and analysis is the typical ones such as the Chassis, Drivetrain, Intake, Exhaust, Cooling system, Brakes, Fuel tank, suspension and more (pretty much any sub system you can think of in an FSAE car, has been done as thesis)
Other than that, VD simulation is another popular topic and I've seen some tire modeling thesis papers.

My team was divided into 2 teams:

1. Vehicle dynamics modelling and simulation
2. Chassis design
