View Full Version : Hoosier Delamination?

Curious as to if any teams have suffered from delamination of thier Hoosiers. At FSAE-A we noticed right away some of our tires began 'splitting' at grooves along the circumference of the tire. Looking closely at our other new tires it was obvious this problem was there from the beginning, with small slits in the brand new tires that grew once we drove on them.

We drove autocross with the tires this way and they were definitely showing signs that they would quickly come apart if we ran them for any length of time.

We ended up putting together a mismatched set that had no problems so we could run the enduros without having to worry about tire problems. If the tires had no problems initially, they performed flawlessly.

We've run through many sets of Hoosiers the last 3 years, but they were all 6.0" tires. We did run a couple 7.0" sets before the trip down under with no problems. Maybe the crate trip did these tires in? Or has anyone ever seen the same problems with the Hoosiers before?

I just need enough to tide me over until I need more.

I've seen ours start to show signs of that, but we run them down to cords in the heat of summer with no problems.

Yeah we've pretty much noticed the same thing that Denny noticed in the 110 deg austin heat. They run to the cords before they have any serious delamination.
