I plan to do some machining to the Torsen (012000) diferential stock housing. I want to tap three holes into the housing using the same hole pattern from the old Torsen (M021-DHU)model. Does anyone know the hole pattern and bolt hole diameter of the old housing? Thanks

The hole diameter is 10mm and they form a 73.150 mm circle around the center on the old type 1. The machinist that did the work on the new t1 didn't seem confident in drilling from side to side on a standard milling because the holes for the gears are only about 1mm away so we only tap three holes 1in deep.
hope this help,
please double check these numbers but they are the ones we have used

We drilled holes in our 012000 but we did not follow the pattern of the old Torsen. If memory serves the housing changed and the old bolt pattern would not work, but I'm not positive about that.

We did the work on the CNC. The hardest part was accurately locating the holes on the diff, as your clearances are very, very tight in some places. I can send you our dimentions if you want.

Hello guys

Does anyone knows something about the diff's material? I just know that it's hardened cast iron made of, but i don't know any about the thermal treatment or its mechanical properties.

Thank you

I don't know any specifics, but the coating on the outside is impressively hard. (we had some fun starting our holes)

Does anyone have complete (mainly external) drawings or dimensions of the Torsen diff they could share with me please?

Cheers Spanner.

Torsen has their own site with an FSAE FAQ on it. www.torsen.com (http://www.torsen.com)
I'd post the drawings they send out, but they might have a reason for not posting them on their own site (confidentiality or whatever). If you send them an e-mail you can get the drawings (eventually...).

Hi,
I made a solidworks model of the diff. If you'd like it please send me an email @
