We have two actively working on the team right now (including me), one in India studying business who will be back in December, and one who's a little busy but contributes now and then.

I'm not doing my thesis on the car, but it's been done before.

I guess just Washington and Idaho teams....

WSU has one. Me. I am actually a Chem E, but as one of my instructors is fond of saying (and I am fond of quoting) "Chemical Engineers can do anything."

I think I heard that Monash had some grad students help them with the fluid testing of the aero package.

Brian,
How's your car coming? We're curious to see your school's first effort. Let us know if we can help with anything.

We just sent a CAD file of one sidepod of the monocoque to the machinist to make the master part for the mold. Workin' on the rest... planning to have our first drive Feb. 29th.

Denny,
Is your machinist in the Pacific Northwest? Do they have 5 axis CNC mills with colossal envelopes? I think that you guys were going to use the same company that made the molds for Viking 23 (http://www.viking23.org)'s new body. They do a fantastic job. See if you can get a tour of the facility while they are working on your stuff. It will boggle your mind.

Does this mean you have fully committed to the monocoque now?

Viking 23 is another one of our student projects.

James,
That company in Woolley you're speaking of made the molds for our CF skins that went over our spaceframe in '02, and never wanted to see us again http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif hehe. It was a bigger project than they thought it would be.

We're paying the Physics dept. machine shop a discounted rate to cut master parts out of foam on their 15' x 8' bed 3-axis mill, which has a toolchanger turret that's 20' tall. Pretty cool.

I'd say we're 95% committed to the monocoque. We have our frame designer from last year who updated the spaceframe design, just in case, but we're starting to build the monocoque.

How's 35 coming?
