Does this work with the demo or only the full version?

Wow...brilliant marketing move. The car is even featured in the intro video on the site for the game(http://lfs.racesimcentral.com/intro/intro.html)

i wonder if the in-game reliability matches that of an average FSAE car?

It's a racing sim.

You can get the demo at www.liveforspeed.net (http://www.liveforspeed.net)

Yes, I've tried it

Yes, you need the full version

but it's worth every penny. It's actually a pretty accurate racing sim... definitely not an "arcade" game. From what I can tell, McGill's car seems to behave very realistically.

You will have to race some of the other cars in the game before you can drive the formula car, though. It works on a system of credits... you get a certain number of credits for placing in a race. They are dependent on the number of opponents, number of laps, and AI driver difficulty.
