Has anyone ever machined a new or altered a shifter barrel. We were thinking of trying this to move neutral position to below first gear.

Hi Brad,

What engine are you running? On some you can just take first gear out of the gearbox and gear the rear so 2nd is 1st.

We run the F4i, we have removed first gear in the past. We were trying to hopefully get away from that so we can leave first gear in for drive ratio and packing issues. Just wondering if anyone had success in doing something like it.

We did it on our F4 in 2002 at Colorado School of Mines. We had the pattern welded in and re-machined. Worked like a charm. I believe it required a 5-axis CNC or something of the sort...I was the suspension guy, so I didn't pay too much attention to that part.
