Anyone have any experience using 1/8" rotors with these calipers?
Their website says they are for 0.25-0.375" thick rotors, but that would be rediculously heavy.

We use those calipers on 3/16" rotors. We have to run shims to prevent piston over-extension and binding. So, in the past we've made aluminum shims that look just like the brake pad backer plate. We're considering other ideas this year. I'd say go ahead, 1/8" is pretty narrow but probably not out of the question.

we're using the '-LP' version this year, which has a reduced maximum rotor width (4.9mm). Last year we ran a single rotor in the rear that was very thin, and had problems with warping (with the large width caliper)

We've used 1/8" rotors for a while and are switching to the Wilwoods from heavy beasts for this year. No problems with the rotors in the past. They glow plenty but no warping... yet...

Like UW, we used 3/16" rotors last year and had no problems with the unmodified Wilwoods.

Hey thanks;
I hadn't thought of shims, even though it is a pretty obvious solution. CNC Waterjet here I come...
maybe I'll go with 5/32" just so I can special order material...

we use 4mm (undrilled), but wouldn't go thinner
didn't need shims, didn't wear the pads down
we found poly matrix "E" pads good
"B"'s were a bit shy when cold
they will chop up soft disks (if you have soft disks)
"T"'s went off a bit when they get hot
but ask the guys at wilwood

Shims wont fix the main problem, if you wear your pads down the backing plate will pop out of the caliper.
The Wilwood pads are pretty thick and as long as you keep an eye on them you won't have any problems.
our rotors are .25 thick, and yes, they are rediculously heavy http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
