Hey all,

I just wanted to thank James and Travis and the whole WWU crew for letting me crawl all over their shop and drool on the Viking 30 (and the 35). I had a great time. Also a big thanks to Denny and Matt at UW for responding to my last minute request for a tour and showing me their first class act. Thanks a lot guys, and good luck with the new chassis!

Lacy,
It was good to have you stop by. I hope that the pictures are useful for your project. Share some build pictures when you get started on it.

We are always happy to show people around and show off our stuff.

This Saturday (Feb 21st 2004) we will be hosting an open house. We will start at 4pm. We are hosting a banquet for the NW SAE chapter here on campus at 6pm. If you are interested in the banquet you need to get a hold of me today (sorry for the short notice). If you just want to come to the open house get a hold of me by Friday and I can give you some more info. Everyone is welcome to come. If you like cars our shop is a cool thing to see.

James and Travis, thanks for showing me around your shop over the summer.

To anyone who visits WWU, make sure to check out that carbon fiber engine they're building.

It should be noted it's NOT being built for SAE.

I am jealous. I got to go out to WWU a couple of weeks ago and enjoy their cars, shop, and beers with James and Travis. (It was great to have a few beers with them.) I did fail to take the opportunity to make it over to UW though. To make things worse, Lacy called to me and gloated on his way out of town.

To make sure Lacy don't stay one up on me I will be looking for an excuse to get out and see UW's operation in the near future and would like to propose a northwest autocross some time before competition (maybe in Spokane in April.) What do you think?

Sam,
We're hosting events in Everett, WA this weekend (2/29) and April 18th. And, we'll be testing every weekend from now until May as well. You guys (and any other NW/BC teams) are welcome to come over any time for testing, etc. We're a little spoiled so we're reluctant to travel elsewhere if it's not for a race http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good job WWU for hosting the SAE Northwest banquet! Very professional! I'm jealous of the production CNC equipment, but you've also motivated me to make my damn wheel centers on our "little" bridgeport 3-axis. 10 inches per minute, I'll be there a while...

Thanks a lot guys.

Sam,
The Spokompton Ghetto scares most of us. But if you guys set up some racing action we might show up. See if you guys can make it to one of the ones that UW will host – they are good.

Denny,
Thanks for the compliments. The banquet took quite a bit of work (special thanks to Chops). It should be your turn again next year to host it so we expect big things. If you guys get Mike Waggoner to come up and run the wheel centers on the Mori I'll let you borrow the RPF (bad ass endmill) and you can run 10 times that fast....

We were planning to go to an autocross put on by the Spokane club on April 18th but we may have to make a trip out west instead. We will let you know when time gets closer.
