Would anyone be willing to share some logged data from a competition track? At the very least speed vs time and maybie Gs? Anything would be helpful.

Are you looking for just minimum and maximum speeds, and peak brake/cornering/accel G's?

whatever anybody is willing to share

Well, what do you want to do with it? If we know your end goal (ie rough guessing corner loads for FEA and speeds for bearing calcs) then it will be easier to give you the best data.

Ooh! Rough guessing of corner loads is exactly something I need, but I thought that would be too much to ask for.
Can someone share some track data of this kind? We make assumptions in calculations based on maximum possible g's of acceleration and braking. But I'm sure the guys would appreciate seeing some real track figures of the same.

I simply want to know how fast we are going through coners, at what speed we are entering/existing corners, at what speed we are spending most of our time, what the peak speeds are and what our slowest speeds are. At the moment i am mainly interested in figuring out some ballpark initial setup guesses for what our gearing should be and what we want the motor torque curve to look like.
Really there is no end to what you can figure out even based simple DAQ. Without it you are really just guessing what the car is doing. The car we are bringing to competition this year will be our first car with DAQ. Until then we are still in the dark.

I'll second jrickert's request, I was hoping to be able to use the same info, but we haven't had any DAQ yet either.

I have some data from the AIMsports DAQ our team used in 2007, including lateral and longitudinal acceleration. I've got the endurance for sure and might have the other events also.
Post up your email address if you're interested. Please understand I'm offering a copy of the datalog only and not tech support of how to interpret the data or how to use AIM's data acq software. You can download their software including help files and user's manuals free from their website, www.aimsports.com (http://www.aimsports.com)

A fantastic favour. We'll be running our DAQ for the first time this season, so it would be great to see how they compare. We'd love some good data to design with too!

Thats really good of you, we may have DAQ this year if the electronics guys get it together! Could we get a copy too please?
Thanks!

Hey Scott,
Really great you are willing to share data. Our first year with DAQ too. I'm sure this will be helpful.

Email sent, hope it helps... datalogs can take a while to get used to.
We might have been slightly ahead of mid-pack that year, I think we took 11th overall in Fontana.

Hi Great Scott! How are you?? can you send the data to clan79(at)gmail.com?
Thanks a lot!
Hi Scott,
would really appreciate if you'd send me the data as well, since we just started implementing data acquisition...

yeah I'd like to have that data as well

also if you want I can post it on our server so you don't have to keep emailing people

Hi Scott,
thanks for the data - it's perfect for us until we get our DAQ in a running car.
Just wondering if I can ask a few questions about your car, for help in the analysis of the data..
- What tyres were you using at the FSAE west 2007 competition?
- roughly how much camber change were you seeing/expecting in the skidpan event, ie. at the peak lateral accelerations seen in the data?
- Wheelbase and track (F/R) for the car?
This would be awesome. Thankyou!
B

Tires were Hoosiers, diameter was 13", we ran a staggered setup with rears wider than the fronts, I think they were 6" and 7" but they might have been 7" and 8" (tried a couple of setups during the year). Sorry I don't know any more than that, I was the only electrical guy that year and didn't spend as much time learning about suspension as I would have liked.
