TPS - mostly on naturally aspirated engines; on some applications TPS is used for the base load calulation and the corrected for MAP (e.g. ram air airbox at high speeds)

MAP - forced induction engines; usually a TPS sensor is slill used for acceleration enrichment and eventually for anti-lag strategies

MAF - naturally aspirated or forced induction but only good for street use since response is quite sluggish

Let me know if you would like more details on any particular setup.

Dan,

Does Walbro have a system that would work on a Briggs and Statton V-Twin 600cc?

Why yes there is and the one on this page is a 60hp monster http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Plus it would be really cool to beat some formula teams that use motorcycle engines with what is essentually a lawn mower engine. Also on this page are some single cylinder engines that this company does R&D on.

If you are looking for a cheap solution, the BiRace ECU should work fine for you. The cost with the 30% FSAE discount is US$500.

Take a lookt at http://www.walbro-italy.com for more info.

Dan can you send me the information on the Birace ecu. IE what does it come with, sensors needed and software to program. The website is nice but not in English. I am interested though.

Big Daddy-

The website is in English as well. Just click on the British flag in the top right corner to switch languages.

The ECU comes with the mating connector and you will have to make your own wiring harness. You will have to specify the type of crank-pic kup (hall or magnetic) when you order the ECU. It work with pretty much all standard automotive temp, pressure and lambda sensors. There are linearization tables in the software that let you calibrate everything.

The software, manual and wiring diagrams are also available for download from the webpage. The software is in a .ZIP file and there are other .ZIp files inside it. Unfortunately, some of the files inside the ZIP files are redunant. Just unzip everything and run the Setup.exe in the Disk1 folder.

You can contact me off the forum at nospam_ddeussen@nospam_walbro.com (without both nospam and _) for further questions.
