I wanted to know if there is a way to convert a 2D drawing (the 3 views) to a 3D file in solidworks.

Then you are opening a drawing file in solid works(or dwg editor) you get an option where you can open the drawing as part. I converts the 2D drawing to a sketch.

Solidworks has great help files...wouldn't that have been a better place to start?
