I looked through the list of books to be used as references and noticed a lack of camshaft design books being mentioned anywhere on the forums.

Anyone know of a good book to pick up that goes over the basics of camshaft design and theory?

I'm pretty sure Design and Simulation of Four Stroke Engines at least has some coverage of the topic.

Introduction to Engine Valvetrains by Wang is a good, all-around valvetrain book with a good chapter on camshaft design.

Not exactly a book but check out the Race Engine Technology articles by Professor Blair & Associates.

He has done a lot of valve train work. Taking a look at some of his sources will probably lead you to some decent books. He also wrote "Design and Simulation of Four-Stroke Engines" as mentioned previously.

That along with Wang should at least get you started.
