We haven't fired this engine for the last three years and its wiring is screwed as is the cdi unit... I tried looking for cdi's that are adaptable to the engine, but haven't got far on that... I really really need some help on this and that too soon...

Hmmm, R1 engine for which purpose? 998ccm > 610ccm.
If you pass scruitineering you'll have a good advantage http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Few aftermarket ECU's work well with CDI. What are you using to control your engine? And why aren't you just wiring it all yourself - why go back to something thats just going to get torn apart anyways?

We use an M&W ignitions CDI (both Pro 12 and Pro 14 with no difference in performance) coupled with a MoTeC M4 on 1999-2003 model R6 engines.

The CDI units that are bought from MoTeC are actually M&W units with a different box.

We use the M&W CDI Pro14. Its supposed to be the best. We had one die while testing recently but never had problems before/during comp.
