IGES file of Aprilia Engine to Solid Works Help

Our team has never worked with 3d scans and needs help making a usable file from the "shared CAD Files" Aprilia 550 engine.

I have a copy of Solid Works Office Premium but cannot figure out how to use the scanto3d feature. I tried just using the points to make a rough engine; however its copious file size and selecting points on the wrong side of the engine made this futile.
