This isn't your same old summer camp.Camp Motorsport, a race car driving sports specialty summer camp for girls & boys ages 8-16, is a unique fusion of racing school with life-skills development and traditional summer camp! The camp's program focus is on driving and racing education, using curriculum designed to help kids become better, safer drivers.
And although the camp has driving curriculum and instructional staff that rival professional driving schools, the program goes much deeper than the experience behind the wheel. Camp Motorsport is about transforming the lives of youth through the camp experience, using racing as a tool in teaching skills that campers will use in life.
The camp has a strong focus on teambuilding, and there is an academic aspect as well, as campers participate in racing-related activities to convert abstract math & science concepts into hands-on applications, like figuring out how resistance and drag impact making the car go faster. Camp Motorsport also has a strong commitment to children learning to be responsible citizens of the natural world through their racing technology-based environmental education program, where campers explore such topics as alternative fuels, fuel efficiency, and applied sciences to better use resources and protect the environment.
The camp operates on site at VIRginia International Raceway, near Danville, Virginia, and takes full advantage of being integrated at a live racetrack in a variety of ways. The location has advantages for the summer staff who work there, creating educational opportunities and networking possibilities that are pretty amazing!
Camp Motorsport is a great match for students who are studying engineering, math, science, education, recreation, motorsports management, or looking to go in to a racing-related career.
Camp Motorsport & Academic Credit
In addition to summer seasonal employment, working at Camp Motorsport also provides opportunities to earn academic credit for college & graduate students! As an outcomes-based youth development program, with a wide range of focus areas, we are a perfect setting for internships, field study, practicums, independent study, completion of project-based credit requirements, contact hours, and other types of academic credit.
AND, In addition to the weekly salary, Room & Board is provided during the summer camp season!
