Hello,

My name is Carlos and I go to Florida Institute of Technology. I am working on a previous year's car. It uses a Honda TRX450ER engine and will not start. We were at competition and it seemed like the starter motor died in practice. So when we got back I replaced the starter and nothing, then the spark plug and nothing still. I am not sure what else could be wrong with the car. It turns over fine the batter shows 12 to 13 volts under load.

Help?

Thank you

To run an engine you need fuel, air and spark.

Check your compression (compression testers at any auto parts store), check your injectors/ carbs to make sure your getting fuel, and check spark by removing a plug and placing it near a bare part of your frame and cranking the motor. If the plugs are black right after you just changed them, your adding too much fuel to the engine, flooding it, and it fouled your plugs.

Hope thats a good place to start!
