hello everyone ....i am in the engine team and right now working on the exhaust system....i ve calculated the intake and exhaust cfm values for the cbr 600 rr engine and i need the muffler specifications chart based on these values to decide the right muffler ...i ve visited the sites like www.donaldson.com (http://www.donaldson.com) but i could nt find the appropriate muffler dimensions (inlet and outlet dia+ length)....my exhaust cfm value is about 3500 plz help me with the relevant sources in this area ....

If by cfm, you mean cubic feet per minute, you may want to go back and check those calculations...

rpm/2*displacement in liters*0.035
the 0.035 converts from liters/min to cubic feet/min. The above calculation is for a volumetric efficiency of 1, so it will be an overestimation.... plug in 14000 rpm with a 600cc motor and you get 147 CFM...

on the intake, the exhaust being 14-1500 deg will have 5 times the intake CFM. That said, 3500 is still way off.

good point, I guess I never thought about that before. PV=nRT, such a useful equation

thank u very much Mikey .....i was missing a very important multiplication factor of .035 in my calculations (actually the source itself was wrong)...but i ve one more query ....plz let me know the source where i can get a muffler specification chart (though we ve many of them on webs ) which of them would be correct to refer ??
