Hey!
We've gotten into a bit of a muddle with our bell crank geometry. We can't decide if its going to work or not. Can anyone help us?

Its a pull rod suspension, with the shocks on the ground plane. The picture is of the front left wheel. The thing is, ADAMS claims it will move the shock absorber, but somehow I'm not so convinced. Any suggestions?

Not a question of IF it will move move, but how much.

It should move, but it looks like to me you will have a digressive wheel rate (which is usually not desired). your pull rod angle is going to change a descent amount at the upright, so make sure you have clearance there.

A simple summation of moments about the bellcrank axis of rotation should answer your question.

A suggested order-of-operations, although only a personal opinion of mine, is fundamentals first, ADAMS model, a much farther second. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Do you have access to Solidworks?

Anees, from the position of your rack, I don't think that you'd be likely to clear the footwell template rule. You might want to check on that again.

Yes Bobby Doyle there was a lack of coordination with us and the design team. Got that sorted out now :-)
@Shashi: The template, can it be moved up and down to get through till the pedals?

Yes, but only in small increments that aren't really defined (I don't think). I think we had to move ours up or down around 30 mm to pass.

Yes, you can, as Hector mentioned. But then, you'd be better off confirming the amount by which you can move your template in the vertical with the respective rules committee.

BTW, which dampers are you guys planning on using?

Well, since we haven't registered for Michigan yet, we cant. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But yes, I'll do that.
I read about your dampers. What condition are they in? What springs are they fitted with?
Do they have jounce and rebound stops?
Is the rod end in the eye ok?
By service the damper, what do you mean?
Actually, can we move this conversation onto a private mail?
