The Lead Engineer will be responsible for researching, organizing, and managing complex projects aimed at uncovering and vetting new ideas and technologies for the benefit of Cooper’s Regional Technical Centers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The ideal candidate will be experienced in both radial tire development and manufacturing to provide a well-rounded grounding in the field. The candidate should be familiar with the use of tools like DFSS and Matlab. Our ideal candidate will have at least some introductory experience in the application and use of finite element analysis techniques as applied to tires and preferably would be skilled in the use of these techniques. In addition, previously published articles by the candidate in scientific journals related to the tire industry will be preferred.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Math or Science
5 years’ experience in radial tire development
1 year experience in radial tire manufacturing
Introductory experience and/or interest in advancing application of FEA
Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
High level of intellectual curiosity
Superior communication skills
Preferred Requirements:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Math or Science
Experience with Matlab
Skilled in the application of FEA techniques
Green/Black Belt Certification and/or DFSS experience
Multi-lingual
Black Belt Certification is desired
